Self-Publishing and How; Using Amazon

I have published one book so far. Using Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, I was able to publish it in three formats: e-book, paperback, and hardcover. It was extremely easy to use their Kindle Create app to help format an e-book. With Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, it's super easy plus you control everything. From how much your book costs to the little specifics, including font, size, and the paper material.

So, the first step is making an account for their website (after writing your book, lol). It’s super easy and user-friendly. If you have already finished writing your book and it’s ready to publish, your next step is formatting your book. Within the KDP website, there is information on how to format depending on the type. Each type has its own formatting needs. Remember it's your book; everything is your choice. For any book, you will be able to create your cover.

The next part is after creating an account, formatting your book, and creating your cover. Within their website, you can start filling out the information on your book. Then, setting the price. Since you aren’t going through a publisher, Amazon gets a small part of your profit, but the rest you get to take home. Every month, once you get sales, they’ll pay you your part.

Personally, for my book, I had my prices as so:

E-book: $9.99

Paperback: $14.99

Hard cover: $19.99

You get back more with an e-book, because they don’t have to print out any of your books. While paperback is the next option, and hardcover is the least, you recoup the cost of making it. While self-publishing doesn’t cost any money (amazing!), physical copies of your book will be a small cost. You can buy them at a low rate (which depends on your book) as testers. Through the website, you will be able to set things without worrying about anyone else’s input on your book. Because that’s exactly what it is, your book. You created it, you designed it; thus, you should be able to control everything about it.

For those who want to go the extra mile, KDP also offers a way to create an audiobook version. It’s called ACX. They allow you to post a script for people to interview to do your book. But this is when you would have to pay out of pocket. Again, the pricing differs between the voice actors, as well as their individual rates. Plus, the words per minute they do. So, while this is an extra mile for self-publishing, it could be costly.

With making your own cover, you can use websites like Google Drawings or Canva. I liked Canva, but if you want to use something else, you are free to do that.

Welcome to My Blog

I have been dreaming about making a blog for a while now. I finally decided why not. I love writing and sharing my writing with others. A blog is the perfect way to do so. Anything you can think of will be here. New crafts, old crafts, recipes(yummy), showing off adorable animals, How-To's (like how to self-publish on Amazon, coming soon). Also, poems, short stories, and any other writing.  I just want to show my creativity off to the world and not have to worry about people having to pay for it. Art should be free and writing is my art.  Some ideas in the works: ❀How-To Self Publish on Amazon ❀Run for Your Life(short story)  ❀Remembering the Victims(a story to remember the victims of serial killers; series) Anyways, have a great day! More to be posted soon.

Run for Your Life

I felt the grass tickle my ankles and heard the crunch of the leaves as I ran among what would be a beautiful forest. The sun is at the perfect level for things to be coated in a soft golden hue. The sound of birds chirping in the air and the rustling of leaves as a soft and warm breeze blew through the tall trees. I heard a burst of high-pitched laughter coming from behind me.  ¨I'm going to get you my pretty! You can run but you can't hide!¨ He screamed.  My heart beating in my ears, the feeling of adrenaline being pumped through my veins over time, my blood running cold as the muscles in my thighs and calves started to ache. I started to struggle to breathe but I knew I couldn´t stop. The moment I stop is the moment I sign away my life to the Keeper of the Dead. If I die, hopefully, this warm summer day is the last thing I remember before I go. I try to push those thoughts away.  Just keep running, stay positive and maybe you´ll get some luck . The...
